Business vs First Class: A Cabin-by-Cabin Reality Check
Where the line between business and first actually sits in 2026, airline by airline, and the handful of first class products still worth the premium.
The great convergence
Qatar's Qsuite and ANA's The Room deliver more space and privacy than half the world's remaining first class cabins, which is exactly why so many airlines have retired first entirely. The honest 2026 hierarchy isn't 'first > business'; it's 'flagship suites > great business > legacy first > average business'.
What still separates true first: physical space (separate beds and armchairs), ground handling (private terminals, tarmac transfers), catering (caviar, vintage champagne) and scarcity, four to eight seats per plane, which is also why access to unpublished first inventory is the difference between $18,000 and something far more rational.
The first class products still worth it
If the fare gap is under 60%, these justify the premium:
