Premium Economy vs Business Class: When to Pay the Difference
Premium economy delivers about 20% of the business class experience for 30% of the price, a wider recliner, better meals, priority boarding. Business delivers the thing that actually changes your trip: a flat bed and real sleep. The right choice depends on flight length, timing and what negotiated fares do to the gap.
The verdict
For daytime flights under 8 hours, premium economy is rational. For overnight flights and anything over 8 hours, the flat bed pays for itself in a functional next day, especially when negotiated business fares compress the gap to 1.5-2x premium economy instead of the published 3-4x.
